Frontier Texas! is one of only a few museums in the world to feature life-sized holographic figures. Experience the dramatic Texas frontier as the story comes to life in this multimedia history facility. Visitors can meet — at least figuratively — some of the real people who lived and died on the Texas frontier. Feel the terror of a wolf attack, the chaos of a buffalo stampede and the tension of a deadly card game shootout. Buffalo hunters, Comanche warriors, explorers and pioneers await you on this great adventure 'Blood & Treasure on the Frontier.' Also see the 'Guns of the West' exhibit featuring a large collection of historic firearms from the Fort Phantom Hill Foundation collection. The Abilene and Forts Trail Visitor Center, located inside Frontier Texas!, offers free visitor information and the General Store features Texas-themed gifts.

Storybook Capital of America

You will find characters of every kind in the downtown cultural district, home to the largest public collection of storybook characters. With 25 sculptures (and counting), these characters brand Abilene as the Storybook Capital of America.

Picture yourself with the six iconic Dr. Seuss sculptures; make friends with William Joyce’s, “Guardians of Childhood;” search for Walter Wick’s beloved character, Seymour; and fall in love with David Shannon’s, "David & Fergus."

Come back year after year and watch our treasured collection grow. The annual Children’s Art and Literacy Festival is a 3 day family friendly event celebrating art, children and literacy and transforms downtown into a magical storybook land. During the event new sculptures are unveiled each year. It’s a must see!

Visit Abilene and know you’ll live happily ever after. Take a 360 virtual tour of the Seuss sculptures in Everman Park here.
